Anthony Marques Takes Over The Kubert School
Anthony Marques, a veteran comics illustrator, editor and comics shop owner, as well as a graduate of the Kubert School, has taken on the role of president and owner of the the Kubert School of Cartoon and Graphic Art after he acquired the venerable comics school in the fall of 2019.
Founded in 1976 by the legendary comics artist Joe Kubert (co-creator of DC’s famed Sgt. Rock WWII comics series)The Kubert school is a celebrated and accedited school located in Dover, N.J. that specializes in teaching the making of comics and sequential art. All of its instructors are professional comics artists, and the comics industry overall is full of its graduates.
Indeed Marques is a Kubert School graduate as well. He started as a student at the Kubert school, graduating to become a working freelance comics illustrator, and eventually returned as an instructor at the Kubert school. He has worked as an editor at such comics publishers as Dynamite and DC Comics, as well as illustrating comics for Dark Horse and IDW. In addition Marques is the owner of the legendary Dewey’s Comic City, a comics shop in Madison, New Jersey.
