Foroohar, Fortier Win Porchlight 2019 Business Awards
Porchlight Book Company, formerly 800-CEO-READ, has announced that Don't Be Evil: How Big Tech Betrayed Its Founding Principles—and All of Us by Rana Foroohar (Currency) by Rana Foroohar has been named the Porchlight Business Book of the Year Award for 2019. Foroohar is a global business columnist and an associate editor for the Financial Times, as well as CNN’s global economic analyst. For 13 years, she was an economic and foreign affairs editor and a foreign correspondent at Newsweek. Her previous book, Makers and Takers: How Wall Street Destroyed Main Street, was shortlisted for the Financial Times and McKinsey Business Book of the Year award in 2016.
Porchlight also announced Mark Fortier as the recipient of the sixth annual Jack Covert Award for Contribution to the Business Book Industry. The Jack Covert Award is named for Porchlight’s now-retired founder and president. Fortier is the president of Fortier Public Relations, which he founded in 2007, and started his career in publishing with stints at George Braziller, Penguin, and Columbia University Press, before moving to Goldberg McDuffie, where he worked for nine years.
