State of Christian Retail Report Reveals Trends
Marketing and media company the Parable Group released findings that illustrate a sunny outlook on Christian retailing in 2020. The report analyzed $66 million in sales and survey results from retailers and publishers. (As previously reported, there are over 1,800 Christian retail locations in the U.S.).
Some takeaways from the report include:
- Books and Bibles remain leading sellers in the Christian retail market.
- Cards and church supplies sales increased from 2018-2019.
- Leading authors, according to market share, are Jonathan Cahn in fiction and Sarah Young in nonfiction.
- Trending categories include self-help and home-improvement.
The report also encourages retailers to consider expanding their inventory to include titles with no faith content, and features a list of such titles. Among them are children's authors Eric Carle, Dr. Seuss, and Sandra Boynton, as well as adult nonfiction authors Ree Drummond and Marie Kondo.
