Oni To Publish Three Webcomic Print Collections
Oni Press plans to release print collections of three popular webcomics beginning this summer. The books include Kyle Latino’s Savage Beard of She Dwarf, Branson Reese’s Hell Was Full, and Rachel Dukes’s Frankie Comics.
In May Oni will release Latino’s Savage Beard of She Dwarf, a funny young adult fantasy about a lonely dwarf searching for her place in the world. She Dwarf and Hack Battler, her war barbarian partner, take on a world of sludge demons, mutant bear monsters and more in a search for the truth about dwarves.
In June look for Hell Was Full, a new collection of Reese’s notoriously dark and hilarious webcomic packed with brand-new content. Indeed, a group of raccoons gnaw on God’s severed head, a toaster revolts against its master, and a man brags about driving a transformer out of its own funeral, in Reese’s latest combination of the bleak and absurd.
And coming in August, Oni will release a hardcover full-color print collection of Duke’s very funny webcomic Frankie Comics, collected for the first time. Real-life couple Rachel and Mike discover a kitten asleep in their doorway and it’s love at first sight. But very soon the kitten queen, named Frankie, takes over the household with an irresistable combination of charm and snack stealing mischief.
In addition Oni has already announced the release of the first volume of a new omnibus series that will collect the first 600 plus strips of Chris Onstad’s Achewood webcomic, which will be edited by TCAF founder Christopher Butcher with a foreword by Lev Grossman, author of The Magicians.
