Barrett to Head SIBA

Linda-Marie Barrett, who for the past three years has served as the Southern Independent Booksellers Alliance's assistant executive director, has been selected as its next executive director by the organization's search committee and board of directors. Barrett will step into the position on June 16 when the current executive director, Wanda Jewell, retires.

Barrett, who began in the bookselling industry as a frontline bookseller, is now senior buyer, manager, and co-owner of Malaprop’s Bookstore/Café in Asheville, N.C. Barrett is a past board member of SIBA and has worked with the American Booksellers Association, serving on the Bookseller Advisory Council and as a presenter at Winter Institute.
