Laurie Halse Anderson to Curate DC’s Wonder Women of History
To mark International Women’s Day on March 8, DC plans to release Wonder Women of History, a graphic anthology curated by YA novelist Laurie Halse Anderson, that will feature comics profiles of real-world women heroes. The graphic novel will be released in December 2020.
The Wonder Women of History anthology will profile women in the fields of science, social justice activism, sports, and more. The profiles will include such real-world Wonder Women as Michelle Obama, Greta Thunberg, Malala Yousafzai, Venus and Serena Williams, Tina Fey, Frida Kahlo and more. The women artists and writers who will make up the creative teams for each account have not yet been announced.
Anderson is the bestselling author of the acclaimed YA novels Speak and Chains and her personal memoir, Shout. She is a longtime champion of women’s rights and an advocate for equality and female empowerment. She is also the author of Wonder Woman: Tempest Tossed, a new original Wonder Woman graphic YA graphic novel that focuses on the superhero’s teen years, which will be released in June.
“Wonder Woman’s commitment to justice and compassion has inspired fans for decades,” said Anderson. “I am thrilled to help bring this book of real-life Wonder Women to the world.”
