CCI Plans Virtual Comic-Con @ Home 2020
The traditional San Diego Comic-Con 2020 has been canceled due to the pandemic, but its organizer, Comic-Con International, announced plans for Comic-Con @ Home 2020, an online event that apparently will replace it. Dates and other info are still to come.
In a cheerfully mysterious video announcement on its website and YouTube channel, Comic-Con International announced plans for Comic-Con @ Home 2020 with the promise of more information to come shortly. With fanfare-style music blarring in the background, the video announced: “coming soon . . . free parking, comfy chairs, pets welcome, personalized snacks, no lines, and . . . badges for all.”
The announcement of a Comic-Con @ Home came after the annual mega comics and pop culture convention was canceled, along with WonderCon, an Anaheim-based show also managed by CCI. San Diego Comic-Con and WonderCon will return in 2021
CCI also announced plans for refunds, badge and hotel reservations. In addition CCI announced Comic-Con Museum @ Home, a variety of online activities to herald the new convention museum whose renovation construction has been delayed.
