Brooklyn to Hold 'Book Fair for All'
A new book fair, Book Fair for All, to be held at Grand Army Plaza in Brooklyn on August 2 from 1-4 p.m. ET will source and donate books to give to young people, students, and "anyone who is unable to expend income on books," organizers said. Donations of a maximum of 20 books per person will be accepted throughout the week in various neighborhoods in the borough. The fair is looking for gently used books, with no missing pages and few markings, with a specific focus on nonfiction on BIPOC history, classic and "soon-to-be-classic" fiction, poetry, graphic novels, picture books, YA and middle grade books, and books on community organizing and social justice, as well as pedagogical, educational, and skill learning books. Fiscal donations will support community initiatives by Playground Coffeeshop in the Bedford-Stuyvesant neighborhood, and will also pay for cleaning supplies and personal protective equipment for volunteers and attendees, as well as printed materials including flyers and signage.
