Andrews McMeel Hires Executive Editor, Promotes Other Personnel
Andrews McMeel announced today a major hire in its publishing division as well as several internal job moves. Betty Wong, formerly at Penguin Random House and Meredith Corporation, joined the Kansas City multimedia company on Sept. 14 as executive editor. According to Andrews McMeel Publishing president and publisher Kirsty Melville, Wong will be responsible for “identifying new authors, creators, and content that align with the strategic direction of AMP to produce inspiring, appealing, and well-designed titles that resonate with global readers and audiences.” Wong, who is based in New York City, will report to Melville.
In other job moves at Andrews McMeel, Jean Lucas has been promoted to director of partnerships and custom publishing; Melissa Rhodes Zahorsky has been promoted to editor, with a focus on middle grade; Alyce Kelsey has been promoted to director of calendar acquisitions; Marti Petty has been promoted to executive editor of calendar licensing; and Alicia Marshall has been named editor of calendars. In addition, the company noted that Michael Nonbello, who retired from his position as v-p and creative director of calendars in March.
