BISG to Hold Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Town Hall
The Book Industry Study Group has announced the speakers participating in a public discussion on furthering diversity, equity, and inclusion in the book publishing supply chain, which will be held online on October 21, 6:00-7:30 p.m ET. The event will be hosted by Tracie D. Hall, the executive director of the American Library Association. Confirmed participants are:
- Angela Bole, CEO of Independent Book Publishers Association
- Ellen Bush, chair of the Association of University Presses’ Equity Justice and Inclusion Committee
- Nicole Johnson, executive director of We Need Diverse Books
- Michael Mejias, founder of the Writers House Intern Program and founding member of Inkluded
- April Powers, chief equity and inclusion officer of Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators
- Kathleen Reid, v-p and commercial leader of Medical Learning at Elsevier and BISG board vice-chair
- Kelvin Watson, director of Broward County Libraries Division and BISG board secretary
- Andrea Weinzimer, senior v-p of human resources for Hachette Book Group
