International Bookselling Fellowship Program Rebrands
Bookselling Without Borders is relaunching as a nonprofit with a new name, Books Across Borders. The organization was founded four years ago and organizes trips for U.S. booksellers to travel to overseas book fairs, including those in Bologna, Frankfurt, Istanbul, Jaipur, and Turin, to network with fellow booksellers and learn more about the international publishing industry, with the hope they will bring this knowledge hope and apply it to selling more diverse range of translated and international titles. As the Covid-19 crisis has largely shut down live book fairs, the organization plans to offer virtual itineraries to international book fairs for booksellers and an array of additional international bookseller networking opportunities.
Books Across Borders was founded by a handful of independent publishers and is now sponsored by a consortium of nearly two dozen publishers and partners from the U.S., as well as Colombia, Germany, Italy, India, and Turkey.
