Mindy Marqués González Joins S&S as Executive Editor
Aminday "Mindy" Marqués González, currently senior v-p of news and executive editor of the Miami Herald Media Company, has been named v-p and executive editor at Simon & Schuster's flagship imprint, effective November 30. Marqués became the Herald's first Hispanic editor in 2010, and is only the second woman to hold the post, S&S said. Marqués currently serves as co-chair on the Pulitzer Prize Board, and is the first Latina to serve in that capacity. She will report to S&S senior v-p and publisher Dana Canedy.
“I am thrilled that Mindy Marqués is joining Simon & Schuster and bringing her unique and extensive story-telling expertise to our imprint," Canedy said in a statement. "Mindy will help broaden the range of voices and stories we publish, and will help us expand further into diverse and underrepresented markets."
