Booker Prize Ceremony to Feature Barack Obama
The Booker Prize ceremony will be livestreamed next Thursday, November 19 on various BBC sites and will feature a guest appearance from Barack Obama. The event will be offered on BBC iPlayer and BBC Arts Digital (both 7-8pm GMT). Dubbed a "ceremony without walls," the event will be hosted hosted by John Wilson, and included appearances by Barack Obama, the Duchess of Cornwall, former winners Kazuo Ishiguro, Margaret Atwood, and Bernardine Evaristo. Margaret Busby, chair of the 2020 judges, will also be featured. Six actors will offer staged readings from the shortlisted titles, including actors Ann-Marie Duff, Thandie Newton, Ayesha Dharker, Nina Sosanya, Stuart Campbell, and Paapa Essiedu.
The Booker Prize comes with a £50,000 prize. The finalists are:

- Tsitsi Dangarembga (Zimbabwe) for This Mournable Body
- Avni Doshi (USA) for Burnt Sugar
- Maaza Mengiste (Ethiopia/USA) for The Shadow King
- Douglas Stuart (Scotland/USA) for Shuggie Bain
- Brandon Taylor (USA) for Real Life
