Seven Seas, PRH Publisher Services Ink Distribution Pact
Penguin Random House Publisher Services has reached a multi-year worldwide sales and distribution agreement with Seven Seas Entertainment, an independent manga publisher based in Los Angeles.
Under the new agreement PRHPS will sell and distribute the Seven Seas frontlist and backlist across all sales channels worldwide beginning in July 2021.
Founded by Jason DeAngelis in 2004, Seven Seas Entertainment publishes a wide assortment of licensed and original Japanese-influenced comics and prose, including manga and light novels across four imprints: Seven Seas, Ghost Ship, Waves of Color, and Airship. In addition to licensing and translating popular Japanese manga for the North American manga market, Seven Seas specializes in creating original English language manga in the Japanese visual style for the U.S. manga market.
Among its most popular titles are the Harvey Award winning My Lesbian Experience with Loneliness by Kabi Nagata, Our Dreams at Dusk by Yuhki Kamatani, Monster Musume by Okayado, and Hollow Fields by Madeleine Rosca. Seven Seas was previously distributed to the book trade by Macmillan.
Jeff Abraham, President of Penguin Random House Publisher Services, said, “Jason and the entire Seven Seas team have done a remarkable job of discovering unique manga properties with incredible potential and publishing and marketing them successfully. We’ve all been admirers of the program for years.”
Seven Seas publisher Jason DeAngelis said, “The growth of Seven Seas and the growth of the manga industry have been meteoric. We are thrilled to partner with PRHPS as the next stage in our growth, and with their support, look forward to bringing our ever-expanding catalog to an even broader audience.”
