Otero, Gibbs Taylor Up at Gibbs Smith
Gibbs Smith Publisher has named Hanna Otero as its new publisher for its trade division, while Suzanne Gibbs Taylor expands her role of chief creative officer for all book and gift imprints.
Otero joins the organization from Lonely Planet Kids, where, as publisher, she developed nonfiction titles for young audiences in the U.S., the U.K., and Australia. Prior to that, Hanna spent 15 years at Barnes & Noble, where she founded the company’s proprietary educational publishing imprint, FlashKids, and was formerly editorial director of Sterling Children’s Books. She joined Gibbs Smith in October 2020 as the director of publishing and sales for its Flying Frog division. In her new role, Otero will oversee all book development at Gibbs Smith.
Gibbs Taylor joined Gibbs Smith in June of 1998 as an editor and was named publisher in 2015 Over the course of her time with the company, she grew its home reference and cooking categories and developed series including the BabyLit line of primers based on classic literature, the 101 Things cookbooks series, and Pocket Guides.
