HBG Hires Diversity and Inclusion V-p
Hachette Book Group has appointed Carrie Bloxson v-p of diversity and inclusion. She will start at the company on February 1, and will join the publisher's executive management board.
Bloxson most recently served as interim CEO and CMO of DoSomething.org, where she oversaw social impact, diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives, brand development, and creative strategy for the social impact organization. Before joining DoSomething, Bloxson was v-p of marketing at HarperCollins.
In leading HBG’s diversity and inclusion programs and strategy, Bloxson is charged with “helping HBG achieve its objective to create a more diverse, inclusive, and equitable company with increased representation of people of color in HBG’s leadership, workplaces, and publishing programs,” HBG said. In addition, Bloxson will support the work HBG is doing in the areas of talent development, recruitment, retention, training, office culture, business processes, marketing, and communications.
“I'm thrilled to return to publishing and work with the team at Hachette,” said Bloxson in a statement. “This is a rare opportunity where my core values align with what I believe HBG wants to accomplish: to be a publisher that values diversity and inclusion, and one that understands how essential books are to promoting healthy discourse in our society.”
