FSG Unveils New Sally Rooney Novel
Sally Rooney, the bestselling Irish novelist, sold a new book to Farrar, Straus and Giroux that's set for a September release. Beautiful World, Where Are You was acquired in a U.S. rights agreement by FSG publisher Mitzi Angel.
The novel, which Tracy Bohan and Andrew Wylie at the Wylie Agency sold in a two-book deal, follows a quartet of romantically entangled young people in Dublin. As FSG explained: "Alice, Felix, Eileen, and Simon are still young—but life is catching up with them. They desire each other, they delude each other, they get together, they break apart.... Are they standing in the last lighted room before the darkness, bearing witness to something? Will they find a way to believe in a beautiful world?"
Rooney won the 2017 Sunday Times/Peters Fraser + Dunlop Young Writer of the Year Award, and is the author of Conversations with Friends and Normal People. The latter, which was shortlisted for the Booker prize, was adapted into a limited series by Hulu/BBC Television.
