After Departures, YRG Founder Says Firm Still Open
YRG Partners, the literary agency that Yfat Reiss Gendell launched after parting ways with her former partner Peter McGuigan, has seen most of its principals leave. But in a statement to PW, Gendell said the firm remains in business.
Gendell, and Foundry, have been under fire in recent months. A number of Foundry authors have alleged that firm has not been paying them royalties they are owed. After that complain surfaced, Gendell was sued by McGuigan, who claims his former business partner stole money from their agency. Gendell has denied the charges.
In the meantime, the three agents who joined YRG at its launch have all quietly left the firm.
Peter Steinberg recently announced that he has joined Fletcher & Company. His departure follows on the heels of Adriann Ranta Zurhellen's, who joined Folio Literary Management. PW also understands that Tanusri Prasanna has left YRG and will be announcing the agency she has joined soon.
When asked if YRG Partners is still in business, Gendell provided this statement: "The focus of publishing professionals should always be on the care of our authors and our industry. That’s what my colleagues are doing and what YRGP continues to do."
