LibraryPass Offers Libraries Digital Access to Humanoids Graphic Novels
LibraryPass, a digital content vendor serving libraries and schools, has reached an agreement with the celebrated European comics publisher Humanoids to offer access to its backlist via LibraryPass’ ComicsPlus digital comics unit.
The distribution agreement will provide library patrons digital access to Humanoids' backlist of more than 500 graphic novels. LibraryPass’s ComicsPlus is a catalog offering access to more than 20,000 digital comics, graphic novels, and manga.
Humanoids COO of U.S operations Alex Donoghue said the deal offered “the opportunity to increase our digital reach, particularly in the library and academic segments, which we feel are vital to publishing and culture as a whole.”
Originally launched in Paris in the 1970s, Humanoids is best known for publishing such acclaimed European comics artists as Moebius, Enki Bilal, Juan Gimenez, and Milo Manara. Humanoids is known for publishing epic science fiction, but the celebrated publisher has worked to expand its publishing program into new genres and age levels, including memoir, thriller, comedy, horror, children’s, fantasy, action, and adventure.
Guy LeCharles Gonzalez, LibraryPass chief content officer, said: “We are thrilled to offer libraries and schools unlimited, simultaneous access to Humanoids’ impressive catalog of graphic novels. They’re an innovative publisher with a strong backlist, and they have exciting plans to expand their offerings for children and young adult readers.”
