Mountains & Plains Booksellers Announce Reading the West Shortlist
The Mountains & Plains Independent Booksellers Association announced this morning the shortlist of nominees for the 31st annual Reading the West book awards. MPIBA is asking its member bookstores and the reading public to vote for their favorite titles with western themes published in 2020. There are nine categories: fiction; debut fiction; poetry, narrative nonfiction; illustrated nonfiction, YA; young readers; picture books; and culinary writing/cookbooks (“Eating the West”). The deadline for voting is May 15 and the winners will be announced on May 25 during a live-streamed awards ceremony beginning at 6 pm MDT. The program will be hosted by Kali Fajardo-Anstine, the author of Sabrina & Corina: Stories, who won the Reading the West Award in fiction last year. This free event will be accessible to the general public for the first time; registration is required.
