Society of Illustrators Finds New Venue for MoCCA Arts Fest 2016
The Society of Illustrators has located new exhibition and programming venues for the 2016 MoCCA Arts Festival. The annual indie comics festival will be held April 2 and 3 at Metropolitan West, an event facility on the West side of Manhattan on 46th Street between 10th and 11th Avenue.
Panels, speakers and other programming events for the Museum of Comic and Cartoon Arts Festival, which is owned and organized by SoI, will be held at Ink48, a hotel located nearby at West 48th Street and 10th Avenue. Metropolitan West is the latest venue for the MoCCA Arts Fest, which was held in the Chelsea art gallery district last year at a space that is no longer available to host such events.
Applications for exhibitors will be available October 1 through Dec. 1 2015.
The new venue is smaller and there will be a “slight” reduction in the number of exhibitor tables. However, SoI said, “MoCCA is committed to keeping table prices at the same level as last year’s event.”
Society of Illustrators executive director Anelle Miller said: “We will continue to build a bigger audience, which we have seen in higher attendance numbers each year we have hosted the Fest, and look forward to working with this new space.”
