Beijing International Book Fair Goes Hybrid
The Beijing International Book Fair, taking place August 25-29, will be a hybrid event, offering a live exhibition for locals—including international publishers based in China—and virtual events for overseas guests.
The fair's virtual platform SMART!BIBF was launched for last year's fair and attracted more than 1,400 publishers in total, including 580 Chinese publishers and institutions. It offers a platform for showcasing titles and negotiating rights deals. It currently has some 38,000 titles listed.
BIBF is also providing a service allowing international publishers to hold a booth at the live fair that will be staffed on-site to present titles to visitors to the booth. Publishers may also submit books to be displayed as part of a collective stand; the deadline to submit titles is June 30.
Events and other seminars will be available for registered attendees to view year-round.
