Book Biz Raises Cash for Gaza Bookstore Rebuild

A U.S.-based social media campaign led by book business workers aims to raise more than $100,000 to help rebuild the Samir Mansour Bookstore in Gaza, which was destroyed on May 17 by Israeli airstrikes. The store was open for 21 years and among the largest in Gaza. The campaign benefits an existing GoFundMe, which aims to help the store rebuild and has already reached $143,000 of its $250,000 goal. All funds will be given directly to Samir Mansour to rent new space and rebuild a new library and bookshop. The fundraiser is managed by Mahvish Rukhsana and Clive Stafford Smith, founder of Reprieve, a legal action organization.
