Freeman to Move with VitalSource Change of Ownership
Ingram Content Group has completed its deal to sell VitalSource Technologies to Francisco Partners, a leading global investment firm that specializes in partnering with technology businesses. Ingram acquired VitalSource in 2006.
Kent Freeman, who has served as president of VitalSource in 2019 and previously led the company from 2009 to 2016, will transition with the change of ownership. He had previously worked with Ingram for more than 30 years, most recently served as the Chief Strategy and Development Officer for Ingram Content Group from February of 2016 to August of 2019.
“This acquisition is a great fit for our business, for our team, and for our customers and partners," Freedman said in a press release. "It ensures that we will be able to expand our efforts to deliver affordable and impactful learning solutions for students and professionals. We are proud of the work we have done to become a leader in the educational technology industry, and we are poised to accelerate those efforts with this investment from Francisco Partners. I couldn’t be more excited to lead the team into this next part of VitalSource’s journey."
