SAGE to Sponsor Nine Universal Write Titles

SAGE Publishing will sponsor nine new titles to be published by Universal Write Publications (UWP), a Black-owned social science publishing company. The three-year agreement with SAGE will allow UWP to expand its recruitment of new authors and books. SAGE will not take any stake in the company, although it will now hold a position on UWP’s Board of Directors. 

UWP was founded in 2004 by Ayo Sekai, initially as a self-publishing initiative. The press now focuses on publishing academic, peer-reviewed work that demonstrates a commitment to African agency and African narratives. 

UWP is currently seeking proposals for nine new titles.
