Center for Book Arts Launches 'Book Art Review'
The Center for Book Arts will publish the first issue of Book Art Review, a semiannual magazine for book art criticism, this fall. Founded in September 2020 by Megan N. Liberty, Corina Reynolds, and David Solo, Book Art Review will showcase essays, reviews, conversations, and other pieces engaging with books by artists and their "material, paginated, and object qualities," the Center said. The Center for Book Arts hopes the new magazine will provide a forum for diverse readers and writers, making book arts more visible and accessible tp a wider audience.
The magazine's first web reviews will be published in September, and its inaugural print issue will be released later this fall, featuring contributions from Deirdre E. Lawrence, Devin N. Morris, Kinohi Nishikawa, and Jenna Wortham. Book Art Review is currently accepting pitches for online reviews and print pieces for future issues at bar@centerforbookarts.org.
