DC, Webtoon Debut Batman Mobile Comics Series
First announced in August, the creative partnership between mobile comics platform Webtoon and superhero comics house DC, has released its first collaboration, Batman: Wayne Family Adventures, a new Webtoon-style series hosted on the mobile comics site and featuring DC’s iconic superheroes.
The new series is live on Webtoon and the initial episodes are available to read for free via the Webtoon website or via its app. The new series has been created by writer CRC Payne, storyboards by Maria Li, with inking by Starbite and backgrounds and renderings by Lan Ma. The new series is drawn in the manga-influenced style typical of a Webtoon series.
This is the first story to be released by the Webtoon and DC collaboration. The story is set in the Wayne mansion and features Batman/Bruce Wayne and a bunch of the heroes of the Wayne household including, new sidekick Signal, aka Duke Thomas; and Damian Wayne, the latest Robin. In addition there’s Dick Grayson, the original and former Robin, now known as Nightwing; as well as commissioner Jim Gorden, and daughter Barbara Gordon, aka Oracle; and others.
Webtoon Entertainment, U.S., head of content David Lee said, “Webtoon is really relishing the opportunity to explore the DC Universe in novel new ways. Batman: Wayne Family Adventures is a great example of what we can do when we pair a world class team of creators with a leading entertainment company like DC.”
