Top Shelf’s Chris Staros Offers Comics Mentoring
Chris Staros, cofounder and editor-in-chief of Top Shelf Productions, the celebrated indie comics imprint of IDW Publishing, also offers an after-hours mentoring service for aspiring comics creators that has opening slots in November and December.
Staros is a veteran editor and publisher of many acclaimed graphic novels. Chris Staros Mentoring offers his subscribers a 1 hour one on one editorial review and consultation via Zoom. The session includes an editorial review of the project, suggestions on enhancing the project and submission, advice on self-publishing, social media, and crowdfunding, information on publishing contracts, film deals, and careers in comics.
The sessions costs $99 and over the last year, Staros has conducted more than 135 Zoom mentoring sessions.
Staros cofounded Top Shelf in 1997 and since that time he has published more than 400 graphic novels, among them the acclaimed bestselling March Trilogy by the late Rep. John Lewis, Andrew Aydin, and artist Nate Powell, a graphic biography of Lewis as well as a graphic history of the Civil Rights Movement. In addition he has published such acclaimed comics creators as Alan Moore and Eddie Campbell (From Hell), George Takei, Justin Eisinger, Steven Scott, and Harmony Becker (They Called Us Enemy), and many other notable comics creators.
