‘Unikorn’ Graphic Novel to Be Adapted into Film
Unikorn by writers Don Handfield and Joshua Malkin and artist Rafael Loureiro, a coming-of-age graphic novel that will be adapted into a motion picture by Armory Films, will be published this month by Scout Comics.
Unikorn is the story of 12 year-old Mae Everhart and the old horse she inherits. The horse has an odd nub in the center of its forehead that makes Mae believe the horse is a “unikorn," or a unicorn with a broken horn. Mae learns that the horn was removed to keep the animal safe from those who would exploit or harm him. She also learns that she’s got to find the broken horn to prove to her father that the horse really is magical before everything she cares about is lost.
The forthcoming film adaptation of Unikorn will be directed by Debbie Berman, her directorial debut. Berman has worked editing such recent blockbuster films as Spider-Man: Homecoming and Black Panther. Scout Comics titles are distributed to the book trade by Simon & Schuster.
