Knopf Looks to Smooth Hardcover, Paperback Transition

Knopf Doubleday Publishing Group president and publisher Maya Mavjee has announced a change in the division’s workflow aimed at simplifying the transition for a title as it moves from hardcover to trade paperback. While paperbacks will still be released under the Vintage/Anchor imprints, the acquiring editor will now oversee the conversion process, not a new editor, as has been the case. The transition to the acquiring editors will begin at the end of January. To implement the new workflow, Mavjee has made a number of structural changes, which are detailed in a memo.
