Labrise Succeeds Varno as NBCC President

Megan Labrise has been elected president of the National Book Critics Circle, succeeding Publishers Weekly fiction reviews editor David Varno, among other changes to leadership. The new officers for 2022-2023, elected by the board at its first quarterly meeting, are:

  • Jacob M. Appel, v-p and treasurer
  • Colette Bancroft, v-p and secretary
  • Willow Naomi Curry, v-p of grants and fundraising
  • Jane Ciabattari, v-p of events
  • Maris Kreizman, v-p of awards
  • Chelsea Leu, v-p of membership and technology
  • Tara Wanda Merrigan, v-p and administrator of the Gregg Barrios Book in Translation Prize
  • Heather Scott Partington, v-p and administrator of the Emerging Critics program
  • Ruben Quesada, v-p of diversity, equity, and inclusion
  • David Varno, v-p of online
