Sheridan Recovers from Malware Attack
The impact of a malware attack against Sheridan, the book and journal printer that is part of the CJK Group, is close to being fully resolved. The attack was first discovered in early April.
On April 13, a spokesperson confirmed Sheridan had discovered malware “that disrupted a portion of our internal computer system.” The spokesperson said at the time that Sheridan was “working with third-party forensic specialists to investigate the source of this disruption, confirm its impact, and to restore full functionality to our systems as soon as possible.”
Since that effort began, the company has been bringing back its plants and different systems on a piecemeal basis. While Sheridan’s presses continued to run, other systems were offline. The company had told some presses it had hoped to have everything back online last week, but some parts of the system are still down. The spokesperson said that, at present, “most of our systems are up and running, with just a few adjustments still in process.”
