Plough To Publish New Graphic Novel Series Set During The Reformation
Written by Jason Landsel with art by Sankha Banerjee, By Water: The Felix Manz Story, is the the first book in a three volume graphic novel series about young people fighting against corruption during Europe’s Reformation, the movement that challenged and transformed Western Christianity. The first book will be published by Plough Publishing in March 2023
“Felix Manz was the son of a priest and a prostitute who became an unlikely leader and ultimately the very first martyr of the Radical Reformation,” said writer Jason Landsel. The book, he said, “chronicles the real life conflict between Manz and his mentor, the establishment reformer Ulrich Zwingli, who acted as a father figure to his student, only to later betray him.”
Plough Publishing House editor Sam Hine, said the trilogy “tells the story of the peasant radicals from the Reformation period who tried to build an alternative society inspired by Thomas More’s Utopia." Hine said, “These graphic novels skillfully combine historical facts with fictional characters to create an ambitious, action-packed and historically accurate account of young people standing up for their convictions.”
