Capacity, Lead Times Tightened in August

After easing somewhat in July, capacity and lead times tightened again in August, according to the Book Manufacturers’ Institute monthly survey of member companies. 

In its August survey, the 16 responding companies said they were running at 90% of capacity for hardcover books in August, up from 84% in July. The average lead time for completed hardcover books went up from 74 to 85 days

For soft cover books, capacity usage went up from 91% in July to 92% in August and the average lead time went up from 56 days to 62 days, based on 16 responses.
