HC Union Files Unfair Labor Practice Charge
The HarperCollins union has filed an unfair labor practice charge, against HarperCollins, with the National Labor Relations Board. "At our last bargaining session, the company once again failed to put a fair offer on the table or make noticeable progress toward an agreement," the union said in a statement. "Afterward, we submitted a request for information to be able to make educated decisions about our bargaining strategy. The company refused to respond, thus violating the National Labor Relations Act."
Olga Brudastova, president-elect of Local 2110 UAW, which represents the HC Union, said that the charge was filed "because of the company’s refusal to provide information which we are entitled to as an exclusive collective bargaining representative and which is relevant for our ongoing negotiations. While we are committed to reach a fair agreement with HarperCollins as soon as possible, we need to be able to make well-informed decisions at the bargaining table."
HarperCollins does not comment on internal negotiations.
