Hachette Requires Two Days in Office, Effective November 1

Beginning November 1, Hachette Book Group will require office-based employees to come into their office on two fixed days a week under HBG’s Hachette Hybrid model, which has been in place since April 2022 (employees previously had an option to defer their return, and this option ends on November 1). The publisher will also no longer require proof of vaccination for employees or visitors starting that same date, although it will continue to recommend that all employees get vaccinated and encourage those who want to wear masks to do so, asking all of its staffers to "be considerate of others' concerns."

"We believe that there is great value, for our business and for our colleagues, in working together in person some days each week," CEO Michael Pietsch wrote in a letter to staff. We communicate better, we train better, we grow professionally better, we problem solve and ideate more effectively, we gather information and understand each other more fully."
