NBF Announces Three-Year Strategic Plan
The National Book Foundation has announced its strategic three-year plan for 2022-2025. The plan was developed over 16 months by board and foundation staff, drawing from more than 100 interviews and 1,300 survey responses.
Earlier this year, NBF executive director Ruth Dickey told PW that the plan is aimed at taking the organization “to the 75th Anniversary of the National Book Awards in 2024 and beyond,” and will include, among other things, expanding the broadcast element for the NBAs, engaging readers in all 50 states over a five-year cycle, launching a teacher fellowship program, and expanding Book Rich Environments into a total of 60 public housing communities throughout the U.S. Dickey also hopes to expand the NBF’s role as an advocate for the importance of literature and literary organizations.
The strategic planning board committee comprised of former Graywolf publisher Fiona McCrae, former Penguin Random House CEO Markus Dohle, W.W. Norton chairman and president Julia A. Reidhead, CNN's executive v-p of standards and practices Calvin Sims, and Open Road chairman and CEO David Steinberger.
