Louise Dennys Becomes Publisher Emerita at PRH Canada
Louise Dennys is stepping down as executive publisher and executive v-p Penguin Random House Canada. She is the original founder of Knopf Canada, which was established in 1991. An influential publisher in Canada, she was educated at Oxford and emigrated to Canada in 1972, launching her own publishing house and partnering with Lester & Orpen publishing. Over her career, she has worked with a wide range of global notables including Margaret Atwood, Yann Martel, Michael Ondaatje, and Salman Rushdie, who called her his "best editor," and who she defended during her tenure as president of PEN Canada. Dennys will continue to be associated with PRH Canada, adopting the title of publisher emerita of Penguin Random House Canada, giving her the responsibility of "ambassador and advocate" for the publishing house.
