Rowan Ricardo Phillips to Acquire Poetry for Princeton
Princeton University Press has named Rowan Ricardo Phillips the editor of its Princeton Series of Contemporary Poets, effective this spring. He will oversee submissions to the series, which publishes two volumes annually; submissions, including complete manuscripts and an optional CV, should be sent to contemporarypoets@press.princeton.edu between May 1 and 31.
Phillips is an acclaimed poet, essayist, sportswriter, and translator, and the author of six books, including the forthcoming Silver. He has won the Whiting Award, the PEN/Joyce Osterweil Award, and the Anisfield-Wolf Book Award for Poetry, among others He is a professor of English at Stony Brook University, the president of the board of the New York Institute of the Humanities, and the poetry editor of the New Republic.
Phillips succeeds Susan Stewart, an award-winning poet, translator, and critic, and former chancellor of the American Academy of Poets, who began her tenure as series editor in 2013.
