Hoopla Digital Adds Dark Horse Comics
Hoopla Digital, a mobile app and digital content borrowing service for public libraries, is adding nearly a 1000 titles from Dark Horse Comics to its comics and graphic novels inventory.
Hoopla’s comics service offers a wide range of comics, including DC’s iconic super heroes and creator-owned properties from indie houses such as Image, IDW, Boom!, Titan, Gen Manga, Action Lab and many others. Hoopla will now offer such titles as Mike Mignola’s Hellboy, Frank Miller’s Sin City, Joss Whedon’s Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Juan Díaz Canales and Juanjo Guarnido’s Blacksad and Adam Warren’s Empowered.
Hoopla Digital has also developed a digital comics reader for mobile devices called Action View that allows page-by-page as well as panel-by-panel reading.
Hoopla Digital is digital content and e-book borrowing service for library patrons. Public library systems pay Hoopla for the service and pay only for what patrons borrow. Library patrons with a valid public library card—Hoopla provides digital content to more than 800 public libraries—can use it for free, 24/7, to access more than 380,000 movies, TV shows, e-books, e-comics and more, available via the service. Patrons can access content on mobile phones, tablets and PCs and there’s no waiting—the cloud-based service allows multiple patrons to access the same content simultaneously.
Hoopla Digital founder and owner Jeff Jankowski said, “Patron reception to our new comics offering has been overwhelmingly positive, with thousands of titles being circulated every week, and we want to continue to offer dynamic content when and how patrons want it.”
