Mayer Promoted to Executive Editor at Norton
Tom Mayer, v-p and senior editor at W.W. Norton, has been promoted to v-p and executive editor in the trade department.
Mayer joined Norton in 2004 as assistant to then executive editor Robert Weil. He was promoted to assistant editor in 2006, associate editor in 2007, editor in 2009, and senior editor in 2010; in 2014, he became v-p. He has acquired and edited seven works of fiction by Lydia Milllet, as well as award-winning nonfiction by Kelly Lytle Hernandez, Mae Ngai, Claudio Saunt, and others.
In his new role, Mayer joins two other Norton trade executive editors: Jill R. Bialosky, who was named to the role in 2004, and Alane Mason, promoted to the position in 2012.
