Vivendi Inks Deal for Editis Sale

French media conglomerate Vivendi has signed an agreement to sell its book publishing subsidiary, Editis, to the International Media Invest group. The sale of Editis is one of the major conditions Vivendi needs to meet before its purchase of Lagardère, and its much larger Hachette Livre publishing business, can be officially approved.

Vivendi noted that following the authorization given by the European Commission to complete its transaction with the Lagardère group, IMI will need to be approved by the European Commission as a suitable purchaser. Completion is expected by early October 2023.
