Open Road Offers Metadata Service
Open Road Integrated Media has launched Metadata-as-a Service, a new standalone program which will allow publishers to take advantage of Open Road’s metadata capabilities to improve discovery for their books.
“For years, publishers have, by and large, had to rely on painstaking manual efforts to improve title metadata,” said Open Road chief marketing officer Peter McCarthy in announcing the launch. “This meant it was effectively impossible to improve metadata for large sets of backlist titles, or to frequently update metadata to reflect new trends, seasonal opportunities or ever-changing best practices. With Metadata-as-a-Service, that reality has changed.”
The new service is being made available to publishers in two ways. First, publishers already enrolled in Open Road’s e-book backlist marketing program, Ignition, will have their title metadata automatically updated at no cost. For publishers not part of Ignition, the new service is available for a per-title fee through Open Road’s Activation program, which offers marketing services on an a la carte basis for all formats and at every stage in a title’s lifecycle.
