Knopf to Publish Collection of Kazuo Ishiguro–Penned Lyrics

Alfred A. Knopf will publish a collection of lyrics written by Nobel Prize in Literature laureate Kazuo Ishiguro for the jazz singer Stacey Kent. Jordan Pavlin, Knopf senior v-p and editor-in-chief, acquired North American rights to the book from Amanda “Binky" Urban at CAA. The Summer We Crossed Europe in the Rain will be published in hardcover and e-book on March 5; Knopf Canada and Faber will publish the book simultaneously in Canada and U.K. and the Commonwealth, respectively.

The book will contain an introduction by Ishiguro, the lyrics to 16 songs he’s written since 2007, and full-color illustrations to each song by Italian artist Bianca Bagnarelli, Knopf said. Ishiguro added: “I’ve built a reputation over the years as a writer of stories, but I started out writing songs.”
