Authors for Voices of Color Auction to Be Held Next Week

The fourth annual Authors for Voices of Color silent auction will be held September 26–October 3. All proceeds from the auction will benefit We Need Diverse Books in its efforts against book bans and fund its internships and career support for underrepresented groups in the publishing industry.

Auction items include, among others:

  • a Zoom book club visit from Elizabeth Gilbert
  • a signed and specially annotated copy of Roxane Gay’s newest book
  • dinner with Jacqueline Woodson in New York
  • an autographed script from the adaptation of Taffy Brodesser-Akner’s Fleishman Is in Trouble
  • a handwritten letter from author Celeste Ng about her latest book
  • a music-inspired gift package from Bangles lead singer Susanna Hoffs, including an autographed first edition of her novel This Bird Has Flown
  • a chat with writing duo Christina Lauren
  • the chance to name a character in a forthcoming novel from R. Eric Thomas
