Nicholas Latimer, Victoria Wilson to Depart Knopf
At Knopf, Nicholas Latimer, v-p and senior director of publicity, and Victoria Wilson, v-p and executive editor, have elected to accept VSO packages and will depart the company on December 15.
Latimer joined Knopf in 1983. During his tenure, he spearheaded Knopf's monthly email blast to highlight forthcoming books; was the in-house photographer behind many Knopf author portraits (under the pseudonym Michael Lionstar); helped launch the Knopf Poem-a-Day program; organized the publisher's award submissions; and planned such events the Knopf 100th anniversary party, the publication party for Bill Clinton's My Life, and the memorials of Joan Didion, Bob Gottlieb, Sonny Mehta, Toni Morrison, and John Updike.
Wilson joined Knopf in 1972, hired by mentor Bob Gottlieb. Her list of authors includes Stella Adler, Eve Babitz, Lauren Bacall, Candice Bergen, Peter Bogdanovich, Laurie Colwin, Marilyn French, William Gass, and Lorrie Moore, among many others. Her authors have received such accolades as the Pulitzer Prize, the National Book Award, the National Book Critics Circle Award, and the O. Henry Prieze. Wilson has also edited nearly all of Anne Rice's books, having discovered her hit debut novel Interview with the Vampire in 1975.
