OUP Launches Classical Chinese Literature Series

Oxford University Press will launch its new translation series, the Hsu-Tang Library of Classical Chinese Literature, with the first five l titles publishing on October 26. The series, which will feature bilingual editions, aims to introduce readers to the literary heritage and history of China and East Asia. 

The series' inaugural titles are: 

  • An Anthology of Poetry by Buddhist Nuns of Late Imperial China translated by Beata Grant
  • Daoist Master Changchun's Journey to the West by Li Zhichang, and translated by Ruth W. Dunnell, Stephen H. West, and Shao-yun Yang
  • Master Incapable translated by Jan De Meyer
  • The Emperor of China in a House of Ill Repute by Pu Songling, and translated by Wilt L. Idema
  • The Misadventures of Master Mugwort by Su Shi, Lu Cai, and Tu Benjun, and translated by Elizabeth Smithrosser

The series was established by a gift from Hsin-Mei Agnes Hsu-Tang and her husband Oscar L. Tang.
