Comic Blitz Debuts E-Comics Subscription App
Comic Blitz, a new subscription service for digital comics offering unlimited access to more than 2,000 comics and graphic novels for $9.99 a month, launched this week as New York Comic Con opens.
The Comic Blitz digital comics subscription service is launching with titles from such publishers as Valiant, Dynamite, Zenesope, Lerner Graphic Universe, Action Lab and more. Titles include Bloodshot, Red Sonja, Fathom, Grimm Fairy Tales and more.
Comic Blitz CEO Jordan Plosky said, “We want to make digital comics more affordable, and get more people reading them than ever before. We promise subscribers will get a true binge reading experience for digital comic books and graphic novels.”
The Comic Blitz app is available via iTunes, new members get the first month for free, there's offline reading and more.
The service is launching at time when the e-book subscription market seems to be undergoing a shakeout. Scribd, one of the leaders in e-book subscription, also offers a large inventory of digital comics, and was forced to adjust its noncomics content offerings, eliminating many romance titles because of the voracious reading habits of fans. Scribd’s main competitor, Oyster, recently announced that it will go out of business in early 2016.
