David Baldacci to Receive 2024 PEN/Faulkner Literary Champion Award
Author and philanthropist David Baldacci has been selected as the 2024 PEN/Faulkner Literary Champion, an annual award for literary advocacy. Baldacci is the author of more than 60 novels and the cofounder of the Wish You Well Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting literacy programs in the U.S.
“David Baldacci, whose novels have captivated millions of readers worldwide, has been a paragon of service to the literary community,” said PEN/Faulkner Foundation executive director Gwydion Suilebhan in a citation. “PEN/Faulkner is dedicated to the idea that fiction creates empathy within and among communities and advances civil discourse, and Baldacci’s devoted philanthropic work in promoting literacy has ensured that countless Americans have access to those possibilities.”
Baldacci will accept the award, along with the 2024 PEN/Faulkner Award winner and finalists, in a celebration to be held at the Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial Library in Washington, D.C., on May 2.
