Executive Director and Publisher Karen M. Phillips to Step Down at WWB
Executive director and publisher Karen M. Phillips will depart Words Without Borders in July. Phillips took the helm of the organization, which recently celebrated its 20th anniversary, in 2013.
"I’m writing today to share that after a decade leading Words Without Borders, I’ve made the decision to transition out of my role as executive director and publisher and make space for our next leader," said Phillips in a statement. "It feels good to pass the torch at a moment of organizational strength, and I see this change as an opportunity to build on the momentum of recent years."
A search committee, cochaired by Kalpana Raina and Samantha Schnee, will conduct a search for Phillips's replacement. Phillips will remain in her position through June, then move into a senior advisory role through the transition period.
